{"id":1725,"date":"2011-06-04T11:59:37","date_gmt":"2011-06-04T15:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sj\/?p=1725"},"modified":"2011-06-04T18:32:07","modified_gmt":"2011-06-04T22:32:07","slug":"google-plans-a-paid-version-of-translate-api","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/2011\/06\/04\/google-plans-a-paid-version-of-translate-api\/","title":{"rendered":"Update: Google plans paid version of Translate API"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week after <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sj\/2011\/05\/28\/google-to-cancel-translate-api\/\">announcing<\/a> the Translate API would be shut down in December, Adam Feldman <a href=\"http:\/\/googlecode.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/spring-cleaning-for-some-of-our-apis.html\">updated<\/a> his earlier blog post with this brief note:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>In the days since we announced the deprecation of the Translate API, we\u2019ve seen the passion and interest expressed by so many of you&#8230; I\u2019m happy to share that we\u2019re working hard to address your concerns, and will be releasing an updated plan to offer a paid version of the Translate API. Please stay tuned; we\u2019ll post a full update as soon as possible.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So: no specifics yet, and no explanation of the abuse they&#8217;ve encountered, but a paid API should be available eventually.
