{"id":192,"date":"2005-09-02T19:31:23","date_gmt":"2005-09-02T23:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/metasj\/katrina-refugee-identification\/"},"modified":"2005-09-02T19:31:23","modified_gmt":"2005-09-02T23:31:23","slug":"katrina-refugee-identification","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/katrina-refugee-identification\/","title":{"rendered":"Katrina refugee identification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a1033'><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Below is a letter from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andycarvin.com\">Andy Carvin<\/a> (originally posted on his blog <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andycarvin.com\/archives\/2005\/09\/_instructions_f.html\">here<\/a>),<br \/>\nabout locating and identifying Katrina refugees.&nbsp; I have reformatted it<br \/>\nslightly for readability.&nbsp; Please help identify people at shelters<br \/>\nnear you; and coordinate with shelter organizers who may be doing the same with other tools.<\/p>\n<p>================================================<br \/>\n(please circulate widely)<\/p>\n<p>Hi everyone,<\/p>\n<p>For those of you willing to volunteer and photograph evacuees or<br \/>\ncollect photos of the missing from bulletin boards and websites, here<br \/>\nare some instructions.<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\">Getting Started<\/font><br \/>\nYou can create an account at Flickr.com in two minutes, at no cost.<br \/>\nOnce you have a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Flickr.com<\/span> account, upload photos and tag them either as:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: courier;\">katrinamissing <\/span>for missing persons; <br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: courier;\">katrinafound <\/span>for found persons that were previously missing; or <br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: courier;\">katrinaokay <\/span>for all evacuees you encounter so their status can be recorded<\/p>\n<p>No matter their status, please include a second tag: katrinapeople.<br \/>\nThat way we can have a running list of all people encountered.<\/p>\n<p>If you are using a cameraphone to take pictures of people at a shelter,<br \/>\nor <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">if you don&#8217;t have a flickr account<\/span>, you can use the email<br \/>\naddresses below to upload them.
