{"id":89,"date":"2012-08-26T21:13:08","date_gmt":"2012-08-26T21:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/signal\/?p=89"},"modified":"2012-08-26T21:13:08","modified_gmt":"2012-08-26T21:13:08","slug":"ready-to-try-my-first-coursera-course-statistics-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/signal\/2012\/08\/26\/ready-to-try-my-first-coursera-course-statistics-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Ready to try my first Coursera course: Statistics One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In preparation for taking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.extension.harvard.edu\/courses\/introduction-statistics\">STAT E-50<\/a> Spring 2013, I am taking a class from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\">Coursera<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/course\/stats1\">Statistics One<\/a>. \u00a0I have heard many good things about this class, and using Coursera for general Data Science training. \u00a0They have classes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/course\/ml\">Machine Learning<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/course\/compdata\">Data Analysis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/course\/neuralnets\">Neural Networks<\/a>\u00a0and so much more. \u00a0I picked up the text, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0393929728\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0393929728&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=coursera-20\">Statistics, 4th Edition<\/a>\u00a0(by Freedman, Pisani, &amp; Purves.
