{"id":462,"date":"2007-01-12T23:37:25","date_gmt":"2007-01-13T03:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2007\/01\/12\/qs-not-bs\/"},"modified":"2007-01-12T23:37:25","modified_gmt":"2007-01-13T03:37:25","slug":"qs-not-bs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2007\/01\/12\/qs-not-bs\/","title":{"rendered":"q.s. not b.s."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are a few more quick <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartleby.com\/61\/46\/Q0004600.html\">q.s.<\/a><\/em> blurbs from shlep headquarters:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"12\" alt=\"blackCheckS\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/files\/2007\/01\/tiny%20check.gif\" width=\"15\" \/>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.selfhelpsupport.org\/index.cfm\">SelfHelpSupport.org<\/a> just posted a pointer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nh.gov\/judiciary\/selfhelp\/index.htm\">New Hampshire\u00a0Judicial Branch\u00a0Self-Help Center,<\/a> saying &#8220;an excellent website.&#8221;\u00a0 As advertised, the site&#8217;s &#8220;pages provide basic, practical information about the New Hampshire court system, how it works, and what the procedures are for bringing a case to court.&#8221;\u00a0It&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nh.gov\/judiciary\/selfhelp\/getting_started.htm\">Getting Started<\/a> page is a very good idea, and well constructed to help the pro se party decide what needs to be done; so is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nh.gov\/judiciary\/sitewidelinks\/faqindex.htm\">FAQ page<\/a>.\u00a0 Two suggestions from us: a) now that unbundling is available in all civil lawsuits in NH (prior <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2007\/01\/02\/universal-unbundling-unfolds-in-california\/#more-432\">post<\/a>), the topic of unbundling needs to be addressed prominently; and b) the NH Bar Association&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhbar.org\/for-the-public\/free-legal-services.asp\">LawLine<\/a> program, which has volunteer lawyers giving legal advice over the phone to anonymous callers\u00a0(described <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhbar.org\/publications\/archives\/display-news-issue.asp?id=2708\">here<\/a>) deserves a direct link, and not just a mention.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"34\" alt=\"fencePainterS\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/files\/2007\/01\/fencePainterS.jpg\" width=\"50\" \/>\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/outofthejungle.blogspot.com\/\"><em>Out of the Jungle<\/em><\/a> law librarian weblog has a pair of useful postings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Net Neutrality<\/strong> will\u00a0surely continue to be in the news a lot this year.\u00a0 <em>OoJ<\/em>&#8216;s Betsy <a href=\"http:\/\/outofthejungle.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/will-change-in-congress-help-copyright.html\">McKenzie points to<\/a> several discussions of whether the new\u00a0Congress is likely to be a friend or foe to Net Neutrality.\u00a0 It also links to a plain-language <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/netneutrality.html\">Guide to Net Neutality<\/a> from Google, for those who want to understand the concept and\/or join the legislative debate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/outofthejungle.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/unintended-consequences-legal.html\">Jim Milles&#8217; post<\/a>\u00a0this morning (Jan. 12, 2007) has a lengthy excerpt from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bluestonelawfirm.com\/articles-adverse-possession-and-legal-malpractice.html\"><em>NY\u00a0Attorney Malpractice Blog<\/em><\/a>, that gives good advice about the\u00a0kind of letter to write to someone who is trespassing on your property, when you don&#8217;t want to help the trespasser prove <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nolo.com\/definition.cfm\/Term\/970D9042-B47A-4363-B970C10E6C11612F\/alpha\/A\/\"><strong>adverse possession<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0lawsuit.\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/real-estate-law.freeadvice.com\/real-estate-law\/adverse_possession.htm\"><em>LegalAdvice.com<\/em><\/a> has a nice, brief\u00a0description of the adverse possession concept.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"12\" alt=\"blackCheckS\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/files\/2007\/01\/tiny%20check.gif\" width=\"15\" \/>\u00a0 Laura Orr&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonlegalresearch.blogspot.com\/\"><em>Oregon Legal Research<\/em><\/a> weblog has a bunch of good points and pointers, as usual:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarp.org\/bulletin\/\">AARP Bulletin<\/a><\/em>, Laura says, is just chock full of useful information about government, consumer issues, law, finances and much more. \u00a0Its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarp.org\/bulletin\/askourexperts\/experts_dec06.html\">Ask the Expert<\/a> column deals with many topics and is archived.<\/li>\n<li>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.overduemedia.com\/archive.aspx?strip=20070109\"><em>Unshelved<\/em><\/a> comic strip just might have the antedote for our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.overlawyered.com\">Overlawyered<\/a> society &#8212; the oblivious MP3 generation.<\/li>\n<li>Click for the Federal Reserve Board&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/pubs\/arms\/arms_english.htm\">Consumer&#8217;s Guide to Adjustable Rate Mortgages<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Laura <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonlegalresearch.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/low-cost-online-legal-databases.html\">points<\/a> to the Washington U.
