<\/font>efforts<\/a> (<em>shlep<\/em>&#8216;s and those of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/search\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/10\/23\/whaddayaknow-about-fair-use-and-copyright\/\">webloggers<\/a> around the\u00a0world)\u00a0to correct the erroneous copyright notice at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/\"><em>North Country Gazette<\/em><\/a>, has apparently been successful.\u00a0 As our <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/10\/23\/whaddayaknow-about-fair-use-and-copyright\/#comment-104\">Commentor Sansavarous<\/a> noticed\u00a0this morning, items dated October 24, 2006 at <em>NCG<\/em> no longer have the erroneous statement \u201cFair use is not applicable.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Unfortunately, the SideBar continues to have the obnoxious warning \u201c<em>In accordance with Fair Use of Copyright<\/em>: WE FORBID ANY REPRODUCTION in part or in whole of The North Country Gazette.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">In addition to a <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406SchiavoPenalties.html\" rel=\"nofollow\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Commentary<\/font><\/a><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u00a0piece, which remarkably only has \u201c\u00a9 2006 North Country Gazette\u201d after the article, along with a general notice in the footer, you can find examples of the cleaned-up copyright notice here:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406MBCFraud.html\" rel=\"nofollow\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406MBCFraud.html<\/font><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406CopDies.html\" rel=\"nofollow\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406CopDies.html<\/font><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406DebateOust.html\" rel=\"nofollow\"><font face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">http:\/\/www.northcountrygazette.org\/articles\/102406DebateOust.html<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">The new version still claims to prohibit all copying \u201cwithout the express written permission of the publisher,\u201d but that\u2019s a fight for another day (and another weblogger).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0[Special thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/volokh.com\/posts\/1161634828.shtml\">Eugene Volokh<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2006\/10\/24\/investigative_journa.html\">Cory Doctorow<\/a>, who really got this campaign moving after our first post. <a href=\"http:\/\/volokh.com\/posts\/1161797816.shtml\">Volokh continues<\/a> the topic in another posting today, Oct. 25, 2006)]<\/font><\/p>\n<p>BUT SEE: <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/10\/25\/woops-more-threats-from-ncgs-june-maxam\/\">Woops: More Threats from NCG&#8217;s June Maxam<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0 It looks like our &#8220;pro bono&#8221;
