{"id":195,"date":"2006-10-15T09:50:05","date_gmt":"2006-10-15T13:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/10\/15\/thanks-nolo-podcast-transcripts\/"},"modified":"2006-10-16T00:06:52","modified_gmt":"2006-10-16T04:06:52","slug":"thanks-nolo-podcast-transcripts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/10\/15\/thanks-nolo-podcast-transcripts\/","title":{"rendered":"thanks, nolo: podcast transcripts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">I was quite pleased to discover and post about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.acidplanet.com\/artist.asp?podcasts=458636&amp;T=1\">Nolo.com&#8217;s <strong><em>Law in Plain English<\/em> podcasts<\/strong><\/a> last month (see our <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/09\/12\/nolos-law-in-plain-english-podcasts\/\">prior post<\/a>).\u00a0 Nonetheless,\u00a0my usual problem with podcasts still nagged me &#8212; as noted in the <em>f\/k\/a<\/em> piece <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2005\/03\/25\/podriahs-blissfully-outside-the-pod-caste-system\/\">podriahs \u2014 blissfully outside the pod-caste system<\/a>:<\/font><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">A primary advantage\u00a0 <font size=\"2\">of weblogs is the information management that it gives us, including the easy <\/font><font size=\"2\">ability to decide if a post is worth perusal, to quote a passage in assent or\u00a0 <\/font><font size=\"2\">dissent, or to find it quickly at a later time.\u00a0 Podcasting might nurture a bit of <\/font><font size=\"2\">camaraderie, but facilitating the use and organization of information are not its <\/font><font size=\"2\">forte.\u00a0 <em>For me, information is far better processed and preserved through written <\/em><\/font><font size=\"2\"><em>text.<\/em><\/font><\/font><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Well, it was silly of me to have so little faith in the legal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nolo.com\/about.cfm\">self-help pioneers<\/a> at Nolo.com, who clearly know how to make information effective and accessible.\u00a0 You see, since January 2006, Nolo has made transcripts available for each of its Plain English podcasts, at the dedicated <a href=\"http:\/\/nolopodcast.blogspot.com\/\"><strong><em>Nolo Podcast<\/em> transcript weblog<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8212; usually on the same day\u00a0a podcast is\u00a0originally released (or the next business day).\u00a0 Belated, but heartfelt thanks, Nolo!\u00a0\u00a0 <\/font><\/div>\n<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"45\" alt=\"writing\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/files\/2006\/10\/boy%20writing.gif\" width=\"57\" \/>\u00a0 So, although yesterday&#8217;s new Nolo.com podcast, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.acidplanet.com\/artist.asp?podcast=1273|2&amp;t=3022\">Is it Harder to Sell a Retail or a Service Business?<\/a>,&#8221; <em>sounds<\/em> quite interesting, I&#8217;m going to check with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nolopodcast.blogspot.com\/\"><em>Nolo Podcast<\/em> weblog<\/a>\u00a0tomorow, to see if this interview with Fred Steingold has been posted for eyeball consumption.<\/font><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div><strong>p.s<\/strong>.
