can you contribute?]\u00a0\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n<p><em>If<\/em> things go smoothly, this weblog will be &#8220;officially launched&#8221; on October 1st, when\u00a0<em>shlep<\/em>&#8216;s founding team of authors and contributors will be announced and\u00a0start posting on this Home Page.\u00a0\u00a0 However,\u00a0I&#8217;m too excited to wait a week to tell you about our first two recruits.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"58\" alt=\"LibraryDoors\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/files\/2006\/09\/LibraryDoors.gif\" width=\"60\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Two law librarians &#8212; each a practicing lawyer prior to earning a degree in library science &#8212; have volunteered to make regular postings\u00a0at <em>shlep.\u00a0 <\/em>One brings long experience at academic law libraries, the other is a &#8220;<em>pro se<\/em> practitioner&#8221; from her Practicing Reference column in <em>LLJ<\/em>.<\/font>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><strong>John Cannan<\/strong> is an <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Assistant Law Librarian at the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montgomerycountymd.gov\/mc\/judicial\/circuit\/services\/crtadmin\/lawlib\/lawlib.html\"><font color=\"#800080\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Montgomery<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"> County<\/span><\/font><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montgomerycountymd.gov\/mc\/judicial\/circuit\/services\/crtadmin\/lawlib\/lawlib.html\"><font color=\"#800080\"> [Maryland] Circuit Court Library<\/font><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0His legal reference skills often assist the Court&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montgomerycountymd.gov\/mc\/judicial\/circuit\/family\/prose\/prose.html\"><font color=\"#800080\"><em>pro se<\/em> project<\/font><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0John brings the enthusiasm of a &#8220;newly minted&#8221; MLS and a love of technology and legal research &amp; writing to his job and to his first weblog gig.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mary and John plan to provide <em>shlep<\/em>&#8216;s visitors with weekly postings on many aspects of self-help law.\u00a0 If we&#8217;re lucky, they&#8217;ll find time\u00a0among their many responsibilities to post even more\u00a0often.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I hope their decision to work on <em>shlep<\/em> will inspire others to respond to our\u00a0continuing\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/shlep\/2006\/09\/01\/wanted-co-editors-for-self-help-law-weblog\/\"><font color=\"#800080\"><strong>Help Wanted<\/strong><\/font><\/a>\u00a0plea.\u00a0 There&#8217;s still plenty of room on our roster for\u00a0individuals committed to self-help law and eager to make a significant contribution\u00a0to a quality team.\u00a0\u00a0We&#8217;re especially looking for that\u00a0special person willing to take on a true co-editor role at the original\u00a0self-help law weblog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0 [in pre-launch status, as we search for a shlep team\u00a0&#8212;
