Exploring the Future of This Blog

ø

It has been some time since content was added to this blog. I have tended to more “passively” upload article content to my profile on Academia.edu: https://harvard.academia.edu/ShawnEyer

However, as a result of being part of a course on Social Media Management, it becomes clear that developing this blog in a specific strategic direction could prove beneficial. Thus, I would direct this blog predominantly to a special readership academia or semi-academic readers who have a particular interest in history museums such as the George Washington Masonic National Memorial (where I work), or whose research is focused on the late Renaissance/English Civil War/Enlightenment era. My objectives would be to keep my fellow researchers more up-to-date on the particular aspects of these periods to which my scholarship is currently drawn, as well as to become better-versed in the activities of my peers.

Masonic Research Conference near D.C., September 2018

ø

Those interested in Masonic research will be interested to know about the first Quatuor Coronati Conference held in the United States. It will take place from 14 to 16 September 2018 at the outstanding George Washington Masonic National Memorial (where I work!) in Alexandria, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The program includes two and a half days of lectures and discussions beginning in the morning of Friday, 14 September, and concluding on Sunday, 16 September. Attendees have the opportunity to attend a convivial dinner on Saturday evening and a demonstration lodge and talk on Friday evening. Conference attendees have complimentary access to the Memorial throughout the weekend of the conference.

QC lodge is the global leader in Masonic research, and I expect this conference to be one of the most outstanding events of its kind. Anyone interested in the serious study of Freemasonry will benefit from attending.

Here is a one-pager I made for the event which ran in the Philalethes journal: qc_2018_conference_ad_philalethes

To register or for more information, visit the QC website. Hope to see you there!

Welcome to my blog, The Alexandrian. (Why this name? I live in a city named Alexandria, work in a building inspired by the Pharos, and have a not-insignificant tendency valorize the cosmopolitan learning of ancient Alexandria.) I will be posting some new commentary here, but for now here is a link to much of my prior research as available on Academia.edu:
