{"id":78,"date":"2008-11-01T02:23:17","date_gmt":"2008-11-01T07:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/seth\/?p=78"},"modified":"2008-11-01T02:23:17","modified_gmt":"2008-11-01T07:23:17","slug":"icq-102239023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/seth\/2008\/11\/01\/icq-102239023\/","title":{"rendered":"ICQ: 102239023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Kevin Driscoll sporting his IRC # by isforinsects, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/sethwoodworth\/2990424587\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 5px solid black;margin: 5px;vertical-align: middle\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3203\/2990424587_c29eac9d6d_o.jpg\" alt=\"Kevin Driscoll sporting his IRC #\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the first monthly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fabulousbitches.org\/post\/56010240\/boston-tech-meet-the-information-superhighway\">Internet Superhighway<\/a> event Kevin Driscoll sported this name tag with his ICQ #.\u00a0 I was browsing through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crimsonninjagirl\/sets\/72157608404932955\/\">photos<\/a> of the event and I was inspired to look up my oh-so-historic ICQ#.<\/p>\n<p>Christina Xu (also the photographer of the above photo) is writing her thesis on the history of instant messengers.\u00a0 That has to have influenced my desire as well.<\/p>\n<p>I needed to figure out my ICQ#, so I went to check out the ICQ.com.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t been here in ages.\u00a0 But I started searching for my #, aaaaaand unfortunately <a href=\"http:\/\/people.icq.com\/people\/?searched=1&amp;keyword2=&amp;x=0&amp;y=0&amp;my_gender=0&amp;match=0&amp;age_group=&amp;home_country_code=1&amp;m_status=0&amp;donline_only=on&amp;gender=2&amp;age_group=&amp;home_cc=1&amp;fname=Seth&amp;lname=Woodworth&amp;nickname=&amp;uin=&amp;home_city=&amp;home_state=&amp;home_cc=1&amp;origin_city=&amp;origin_state=&amp;origin_cc=0&amp;work_oc=0&amp;work_department=&amp;work_company=&amp;past_code=0&amp;past_text=&amp;interest_code=0&amp;interest_text=&amp;group_code=0\">didn&#8217;t find anything<\/a>. :(<\/p>\n<p>So instead I started thinking back to when I first got an ICQ number.\u00a0 I had one or two before one stuck in, I think, 7th grade.\u00a0 I can recall one occasion in 9th grade where I had the # memorized and was giving it out.\u00a0 And if I had the number memorized once?\u00a0 Perhaps I could recall it.<\/p>\n<p>I knew that it started with 10, then 22, and had a 23 at the end.\u00a0 Figuring out from ICQ that #&#8217;s back in the day had 9 digits, I had but to figure out the other 3 digits, and their order.\u00a0 Amazingly enough, it came to me: <strong>102239023<\/strong>.\u00a0 I even remembered my password.<\/p>\n<p>If you are still rocking ICQ via Pidgin or other multi-protocol clikent please feel free to add me!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the first monthly Internet Superhighway event Kevin Driscoll sported this name tag with his ICQ #.\u00a0 I was browsing through photos of the event and I was inspired to look up my oh-so-historic ICQ#.
