Due to COVID-19 it has been hit specially hard and it seems two companies may not survive: Aeromar and Interjet.

Interjet has been plagued with corporate mistakes, financial issues, tax and fuel debt. It has been a gradual decline for the company from 2012, when it decided to order 30 Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 airplanes. Interjet was the only company in the Americas that used those planes and had maintenance, reliability and safety issues from the beginning.

Now, the company faces a loss of 100% of their international market and almost 90% of its national market. Only 4 to 6 planes are in service and it had to return 66 leased Airbus 320 to their lessors.

Video below (in Spanish)

El 15 de diciembre me entrevistó Carlos Mota para ADN40, un canal de noticias en México, sobre los desafíos para el sector del transporte aéreo mexicano.
