{"id":14,"date":"2011-07-25T22:05:23","date_gmt":"2011-07-26T03:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/notabene\/?p=14"},"modified":"2011-07-29T19:54:18","modified_gmt":"2011-07-30T00:54:18","slug":"republicans-in-congress-are-turning-to-a-complete-idiot-for-advice-and-absolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/notabene\/2011\/07\/25\/republicans-in-congress-are-turning-to-a-complete-idiot-for-advice-and-absolution\/","title":{"rendered":"Republicans in Congress Are Turning to a Complete Idiot for Advice and Absolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a blog posted on his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\">Redstate<\/a> blog today, Erick Erickson noted that he had been getting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/erick\/2011\/07\/25\/the-absolution-i-cannot-give\/\">calls from Republican Congressmen all morning asking him what they should do about the Debt Ceiling issue<\/a>.\u00a0 Erickson even mentions that several of them were calling him looking for &#8220;absolution&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Well, this explains why the Republicans in Congress are completely useless.\u00a0 They are relying on a wacko like Erick Erickson to tell them how to vote.\u00a0 <strong>Why are voters electing people to Congress if those people cannot make their own decisions based on deliberate and conscientious consideration of the issues.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To better evaluate this &#8216;guru&#8217; of the Republican party, here are a few choice words to consider &#8212; they come directly\u00a0 from Erick Erickson:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator&#8217;s house, pull him outside, and<em><strong> beat him to a bloody pulp<\/strong><\/em>..\u00a0 &#8220;(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/erick\/2009\/03\/31\/at-what-point-do-people-revolt\/\">Erick Erickson, 3\/31\/2009<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I did not realize the N<strong>obel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it<\/strong>, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news. There is no way Barack Obama earned it in the nominations period.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/erick\/2009\/10\/09\/barack-obama-wins-nobel-peace-prize\/\">Erick Erickson, 10\/09\/2009<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today, thousands will pour into Washington to tell Nancy Pelosi and the Congress <em><strong>to send Obama to a death panel<\/strong><\/em> (that\u2019s section 1233 of the original legislation). If you need details on where to go in D.C. or if you can\u2019t go, but want to show up at your Congresscritter\u2019s local office, <a href=\"http:\/\/americansforprosperity.org\/cong.php\">go here.<\/a>\u00a0 And Americans owe a huge thank you to Michele Bachmann for sounding the call to action.&#8221;\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/erick\/2009\/11\/05\/today-americans-march-on-washington\/\">Erick Erickson, 11\/05\/2009<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The nation loses the only <em><strong>goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter&#8217;s<\/strong><\/em> retirement.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/ewerickson\/status\/1665491468\">Erick Erickson, 04\/20\/09<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This guy is clearly a seriously disturbed individual.
