{"id":1449,"date":"2004-07-18T15:21:26","date_gmt":"2004-07-18T19:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/nateptest\/2004\/07\/18\/quick-updates\/"},"modified":"2004-07-18T15:21:26","modified_gmt":"2004-07-18T19:21:26","slug":"quick-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/natep\/2004\/07\/18\/quick-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a368'><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sorry to not have been more up-to-date.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve been away in the<br \/>\nwilds of California for the last few days, and I finally have access to<br \/>\na computer once again.<\/p>\n<p>News: I will be a credentialled blogger at the Democratic National<br \/>\nConvention in a week.&nbsp; What that means is that I&#8217;ll be allowed<br \/>\naccess to the convention hall, just like any member of the press, and I<br \/>\nwill blog about all things political that occur to me over that time.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of promises.&nbsp; First, I&#8217;m not going to be a source for<br \/>\nup-to-date news.&nbsp; I&#8217;m not a pol, I&#8217;m a political scientist, and as<br \/>\nsuch, I think my job is to provide informed information on <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">why <\/span>the<br \/>\nprocess works as it does.&nbsp; The joke we political scientists often<br \/>\ntell about ourselves is that we can&#8217;t tell you what to do in terms of<br \/>\npolitics and policy, but we can sure explain to you how you got where<br \/>\nyou are.&nbsp; Second, I have a low bullshit tolerance.&nbsp; BF and<br \/>\nfriends can tell you that.&nbsp; So I will try to call stupidity and<br \/>\ndisingenuousness when I see it.&nbsp; If that means harping on John<br \/>\nKerry as he makes his speech, fine.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve got no reason not to.<\/p>\n<p>Finally (for right now), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberjournalist.net\/news\/001461.php\">here&#8217;s a list of all credentialled convention<br \/>\nbloggers<\/a>.&nbsp; An interesting group, and&nbsp; I&#8217;ll be reading all of<br \/>\nthem pretty regularly.<\/p>\n<p>And now, I need to get off to church.&nbsp; Speaking of church, might I<br \/>\nmention that boyfriend and the &#8220;presumed&#8221; nominee go to the same<br \/>\nchurch?&nbsp; And that I&#8217;m seen Teresa a few times, but didn&#8217;t realize<br \/>\nwho she was until BF pointed it out?&nbsp; My claim to fame for the<br \/>\ntime being&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry to not have been more up-to-date.&nbsp; I&#8217;ve been away in the wilds of California for the last few days, and I finally have access to a computer once again.
