{"id":1159,"date":"2005-03-14T09:08:22","date_gmt":"2005-03-14T13:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/nateptest\/2005\/03\/14\/riding-on-others-fame\/"},"modified":"2005-03-14T09:08:22","modified_gmt":"2005-03-14T13:08:22","slug":"riding-on-others-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/natep\/2005\/03\/14\/riding-on-others-fame\/","title":{"rendered":"Riding on others&#8217; fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a957'><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That is, I am blatantly riding on the fame of people I know&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>A colleague from my cohort at Berkeley left our program a couple of<br \/>\nyears back, and became a writer at the Paper of Record.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/03\/13\/politics\/13covert.html?partner=rssuserland\">She<br \/>\nco-wrote yesterday&#8217;s article about the Bush Administration&#8217;s creation<br \/>\nof prepackaged news items that many TV news outlets have wittingly and<br \/>\nunwittingly aired with virtually no changes (raising the question of<br \/>\nwhether this is propaganda or not)<\/a>.&nbsp; Check it out &#8212; it&#8217;s a great article.<\/p>\n<p>And another Berkeley colleague, who also went to my church there, married someone the other day, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/03\/13\/fashion\/weddings\/13WILL.html\">the announcement showed up in the Paper of Record<\/a>.&nbsp; Fortunately for them, it did not make an appearance at <a href=\"http:\/\/nytimesweddings.blogspot.com\/\">&#8220;Veiled Conceit,&#8221; the blog that mocks (to put it gently) the Weddings page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That is, I am blatantly riding on the fame of people I know&#8230;.
