Spiegel-TV, one of Germany’s most reliable broadcasters, whose reporters had taped the scene, contemptuously rejected Biedenkopf’s assertion.

“Even the reaction of one of Germany’s main political parties, the Christian Democratic Union, in the Sebnitz city council and throughout the state of Saxony could only have strengthened the self-confidence of the right-wingers. Three years before this article was written, indications that Joseph had been murdered reached the highest levels of the town government. These indications, however, were all rejected as unfounded, and anyone who made such accusations was dismissed as a ‘nutcase’.”

Continued next week.

Sincerely yours,

Robert John Bennett

Ernst-Gnoss-Strasse 22

40219 Dusseldorf

Germany

Telephone: +49 211 586 4847

Mobile: +49 152 0285 4626

E-Mail: rjbennett@post.harvard.edu

Kantelberg-Abdulla E-Mail: majoskant@t-online.de

Websites: http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/MunichLetters

http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/Germany2/

——————————————————–

Since many recipients of this letter may read German more easily than they read English, the following is the author’s translation of the above letter.
