He also reported that Joseph was abused with a stun gun, with “several electric shocks”: one “on the lower stomach, one on the lower part of the right arm, one on the neck, one on the ear, one on the genitals”. This description agrees with that of other eye-witnesses. Several witnesses voluntarily reported what they saw to the Abdulla family, but none of them spoke to the police. Many of them told the family that they were afraid, not only afraid of the right wing – they would trust no one.

“On the day after Joseph’s death, there were flowers, candles, and placards at the swimming pool entrance. On one placard was written, “You murderers, you’re guilty of the death of Joseph Abdulla”. The next day, these expressions of solidarity and grief had disappeared. No one claims to know who removed them. For the time being, Joseph’s gravestone is in the cellar of the family home. Out of fear that his grave might be desecrated by right-wing extremists, the little boy lies buried – anonymously – in a cemetery in western Germany, next to his grandfather.

Continued next week.

Sincerely yours,

Robert John Bennett

Ernst-Gnoss-Strasse 22

40219 Dusseldorf

Germany

Telephone: +49 211 586 4847

Mobile: +49 152 0285 4626

E-Mail: rjbennett@post.harvard.edu

Websites: http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/MunichLetters

http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/Germany2/

NOTE: The following letter was written by Saad and Renate Kantelberg-Abdulla, the parents of the boy Joseph (original German text below / deutsche Version liegt unten):

Dear Bob,

We are looking for an attorney experienced in international law who could represent us in the following:

A lawsuit for obstructing the investigation of a racially-motivated murder,

A lawsuit for damages resulting from our expulsion from the town of Sebnitz, in Germany, a town that allows only “Aryan Germans”, in a “foreigner-free” zone.

We are paying the mortgage on our house at Rosenstrasse 11 in Sebnitz, although we no longer live there.
