Dear Mr. Graf, dear friends,<\/p>\n

Continuation of the letter of last week:<\/p>\n

We have been registered as a bad credit risk with Germany\u2019s main consumer credit-rating agency, and this has made it impossible to do such things as lease an automobile or open a simple bank account for business purposes.<\/p>\n

Despite the obstacles we faced, my family and I took the risk of making a new start in western Germany, at the same time that we tried to repay the money that had been loaned to us. Even though we did all we could, EuroHypo Bank is now going to foreclose on our property at Rosenstrasse 11 in Sebnitz, the property we were forced to abandon.<\/p>\n

It is clear from bank correspondence, that we have always tried to meet the mortgage payments and that we have tried either to rent out or sell the property, as the bank wanted us to do. However, you will perhaps agree with me when I say that it is enormously difficult, even perhaps impossible, to sell or rent a building in a small German town when that building is indelibly connected with our family, with the murder of my son, and with the campaign of slander directed against us.<\/p>\n

Trotz der Hindernisse haben meine Familie und ich einen Neuanfang in Westdeutschland gewagt, im Bestreben die Kredite zur\u00fcckzubezahlen. Doch all unseren Anstrengungen zum Trotz, sehen wir uns nun mit einer von der EuroHypo Bank veranlassten Zwangsversteigerung unserer Immobilie Rosenstrasse 11 in Sebnitz konfrontiert. Aus der Korrespondenz mit den Banken geht hervor, dass wir stets bem\u00fcht waren, die monatlichen Tilgungsraten zu begleichen und die von der Bank geforderte Vermietung bzw. den Verkauf des Objekts anzustreben. Doch Sie werden mir in diesem Punkt wohl zustimmen, dass es ungeheuer schwer ist, ja fast ausweglos scheint, dieses Haus, das unweigerlich mit unserer Person, dem Mordfall und der Rufmordkampagne in Zusammenhang gebracht wird, zu vermieten bzw. zu verkaufen.<\/p>\n

Continuation of the letter of last week:<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though I am certain you have heard the story many times before, I would like once more to summarize everything that is known about our situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the name of what is supposed to be German justice, two official investigations were conducted into: \u201cDeath of Joseph Abdulla, Citizenship: Iraqi.\u201d An impartial review of the available files, however, makes it clear that a just conclusion of these investigations was intentionally thwarted. Regrettably, this does not appear to be unusual. One reason may be a lack of interest on the part of the authorities. Another reason may be the quite perfidious attitude of the justice ministry in Saxony, which has apparently concluded that it is not worth the trouble to truthfully explain the murder of a boy who was of mixed German and foreign background. And if the latter is true, one can perhaps conclude that this must be the result of residual thought processes inherited from Germany\u2019s Nazi past.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government of Saxony conducted a media campaign of defamation and slander against our family. Because of this, and because of repeated death threats, we were forced to abandon our pharmacy business in Sebnitz and to move away from the town. The result of that move was to virtually destroy our very existence, since we lost our source of income and were faced with problems in repaying the mortgage on the property we were compelled to abandon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201eAuch wenn ich mir sicher bin, dass es Ihnen nun sprichw\u00f6rtlich zum Halse heraush\u00e4ngt, werde ich das Offensichtliche nochmals unmissverst\u00e4ndlich formulieren.<\/p>\n

Die zweimalig im Namen der so genannten deutschen Rechtstaatlichkeit durchgef\u00fchrten Ermittlungen in der ich zitiere “Todessache Joseph Abdulla; Staatsangeh\u00f6rigkeit: irakische ” wurden von der deutschen Justiz – nachvollziehbar anhand der Ermittlungsakten – absichtlich vereitelt. Eine zu meinem Bedauern scheinbar \u00fcbliche Vorgehensweise, sei es aus Gr\u00fcnden des Desinteresses oder der perfiden Einstellung der s\u00e4chsischen Justiz, die einen Mord an einem Kind ausl\u00e4ndisch-deutscher Herkunft nicht f\u00fcr aufkl\u00e4rungsw\u00fcrdig h\u00e4lt. Ich pers\u00f6nlich f\u00fchre dies auf ein resistentes Nazigedankengut zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n

Auf Grund der vom Staat Sachsen gef\u00f6rderten medialen Rufmordkampagne und der wiederholten Morddrohungen gegen unsere Person, war meine Familie gezwungen unsere in Sebnitz ans\u00e4ssige Apotheke aufzugeben und wegzuziehen. Die daraus resultierenden Existenz vernichtenden Konsequenzen, n\u00e4mlich den Verlust des Arbeitsplatzes und damit der Geldquelle, erzeugten zudem Probleme mit den finanzierenden, Kredit w\u00e4hrenden Banken.\u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cI am asking you to use your powers to oppose the obfuscation of the truth and to prevent a German-Arab family from being deprived of its rights. I am asking you not to close your eyes to the murder of my son, committed by right-wing extremists, even though many politicians did exactly that at the time the murder was being presented in the media. Please give us, the parents and the sister of the murdered boy, some peace and closure.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease do all you can to extricate our family from the problems facing us, including the absurd difficulty of being forced by the government of Saxony to pay for property that we no longer occupy, since we cannot occupy it without endangering our lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were driven from Sebnitz and Saxony and cannot return there. We ask you to convince the government of Saxony that it would be just and right to at least purchase the property. We can no longer live and work in Sebnitz but we are compelled to go on making mortgage payments on a building we once lived and worked in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy law, you have the right and the duty to represent the democratic foundation of the German Federal Republic, a state based on the rule of law. You also have the right and the duty to guarantee that democratic foundation and to see that it is maintained.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are the highest authority responsible for the rule of law in Germany, one who has the power to ensure that the rule of law is adhered to. I have therefore asked you, and I ask you now, to use all of your powers and privileges of office to assist a family that has been deprived of its rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy son was murdered by an organized band of right-wing extremists in Germany. Despite the current discussion of the renewed problem of right-wing groups in Germany, and their growing organization, it seems to me that the efforts of the mainstream political parties are not even addressing the most superficial activities of the anti-democratic forces in Germany. Moreover, these efforts are failing to prevent the existence of those forces and are not dealing with them effectively as they grow more powerful. It is true that German politicians are calling on the public to show courage in confronting neo-Nazis and other extremists; however, the government itself offers no help when citizens dare to defend themselves against these extremists \u2013 or, in our case, to investigate with absolute thoroughness a murder these extremists committed at a public swimming pool in Sebnitz.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trotz der zurzeit wieder aktuellen Problematisierung und Diskussion \u00fcber rechte Gruppierungen und ihre zunehmende strukturelle Organisation in Deutschland, scheint mir, dass die parteilichen Bem\u00fchungen weder die Oberfl\u00e4che dieser antidemokratischen Kr\u00e4fte ankratzen noch tiefer auf das Thema der wirksamen Pr\u00e4vention und Beseitigung dieser Kr\u00e4fte eingehen wollen. Von Seiten der politischen Elite wird zum mutigen Vorgehen gegen den rechten P\u00f6bel aufgerufen. \u201cThe Dresden district attorney\u2019s office wants to check all neo-Nazi NPD speeches on suspicion of popular incitement, according to chief district attorney Andreas Feron.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe representatives of the other political parties in the parliament in Saxony were outraged at Fansel\u2019s speech. They had wanted to begin the session with a moment of silence for all victims of the Nazis. The twelve neo-Nazi NPD members refused to participate, because they had asked that only the German victims be commemorated in this way. They had also asked for a debate on the allied air forces\u2019 \u2018terror attacks\u2019 on Dresden sixty years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cApproximately 35,000 people were killed and Dresden nearly destroyed in the Allied air attacks of February 1945. Now the neo-Nazi NPD members of the legislature want to organize a protest rally in front of the parliament building in the city on the anniversary of the destruction. Herr Apfel, the NPD national vice-president, is the patron of the planned march, to which around 5,000 neo-Nazis from all over Germany are expected.<\/p>\n

Die Abgeordneten der anderen Parteien reagierten auf die Rede mit Emp\u00f6rung. Zu Beginn der Sitzung hatten sie mit einer Schweigeminute aller Opfer der nationalsozialistischen Gewaltherrschaft gedacht. Die zw\u00f6lf NPD-Abgeordneten beteiligten sich daran nicht. Sie hatten zuvor beantragt, nur der deutschen Opfer zu gedenken. Au\u00dferdem hatten sie die Debatte \u00fcber die \u201aTerrorangriffe\u2019 auf Dresden vor 60 Jahren beantragt.<\/p>\n

Dresden war im Februar 1945 bei Luftangriffen der Alliierten schwer zerst\u00f6rt worden. Rund 35.000 Menschen kamen ums Leben. In Dresden will die NPD-Fraktion am Tag der Zerst\u00f6rung der Stadt eine Kundgebung vor dem Landtag ausrichten. Zudem ist Apfel, der auch NPD-Bundesvize ist, Schirmherr eines geplanten Aufmarsches, zu dem rund 5000 Neonazis aus dem Bundesgebiet erwartet werden.<\/p>\n

Der Direktor der Stiftung Topografie des Terrors in Berlin, Andreas Nachama, bezeichnete das Verhalten der NPD als einen Zivilisationsbruch. Wer sich wie die NPD dem Gedenken der NS-Opfer verweigere, stelle sich \u201aau\u00dferhalb der zivilisierten V\u00f6lkergemeinschaft\u2019, sagte Nachama dem \u201aK\u00f6lner Stadt-Anzeiger\u2019. \u201cThe twelve elected neo-Nazi members of the state parliament in Saxony created a sensation in January. \u201cAnother neo-Nazi NPD member of the parliament in Saxony, Juergen Fansel, came forward as a kind of prosecution witness for the \u2018Dresden holocaust of bombs\u2019. The thirty-year-old politician called out: \u2018In this parliament, starting today, we have taken up the struggle against the guilt-enslavement of the German \u2018Volk\u2019. We have taken up the struggle for historical truthfulness\u2019. He said the neo-Nazis would use the coming session of parliament \u2018to strike open enormous firebreaks through the historical undergrowth of anti-German lies\u2019.<\/p>\n

Another friend again commented: \u201cDon\u2019t forget that I got this transcript from the parents themselves. If they had wanted to lie to me about their conversation with Alexander Paetzold, would they have given me this transcript, which contradicts their version of this conversation? Maybe you are capable of believing the parents would have done that, but I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOr there\u2019s another possibility,\u201d another friend said. \u201cMaybe the parents were in despair, because no one would believe that they were right and that their child was murdered. So they collected real sworn statements from people. But then they thought that this proof would not be enough, and they started to produce other so-called sworn statements. The right-wing police in Saxony, under pressure from certain politicians, were able to convince all the witnesses \u2013 or intimidate them \u2013 that they should withdraw their statements, whether or not those statements were true.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fact is, as I\u2019ve already said, this conversation took place about a week after the thing with Joseph happened. There was no other conversation. Herr Abdulla called me about two or three months ago and wanted me to come by, because there was supposed to be a lawyer or district attorney or somebody at his place. I didn\u2019t go, though, and there was no other conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuestion: You said in the interrogation yesterday that Sandro Richter and Ute Schneider were also at the pool on 13 June.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnswer: When I was with Herr Kantelberg (i.e., Abdulla), he said to me, \u2018I\u2019m confirming now that Ute Schneider and Sandro Richter were also there\u2019 and I confirmed that, although it wasn\u2019t true\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Antwort: Das Datum stimmt gar nicht. An dem Tag hatte meine Oma Geburtstag und ich war im Westen. Es ist so, wie ich schon am Anfang sagte, dass dieses Gespr\u00e4ch, so ungef\u00e4hr\u2018 eine Woche nachdem das mit Joseph passiert war, stattgefunden hat. Ein weiteres Gespr\u00e4ch gab es nicht. Ich bin nur vor ungef\u00e4hr zwei oder drei Monaten, in diesem Jahr, von Herrn Abdulla angerufen worden. Ich sollte vorbeikommen, weil wohl der Rechtsanwalt oder Staatsanwalt von ihm da w\u00e4re. Ich bin aber nicht dort gewesen und ein weiteres Gespr\u00e4ch gab es dann auch nicht mehr.<\/p>\n

He was dazed from the way they\u2019d hit his right ear and from the electric shocks. He fell down to the ground and then ran, staggering, in the direction of the shallow pool. There he held on tight to the handle of the faucet; he\u2019d slumped over. He was still only crying a little, but he didn\u2019t say anything, because he couldn\u2019t. His eyes were closed, and he looked completely confused. Maik Hauke and Sandro Richter came back and wrapped the towel around Joseph. They crouched down and unwrapped Joseph from the covering. Joseph tried to crawl away. He collapsed again and again. They all laughed at him. Then Maik Hauke and Sandro Richter pushed Joseph into the water with their feet and jumped right in on top. Both of them jumped around on him for about four minutes.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnswer: That\u2019s all bull, and I never said anything like that. If someone had seen something like that, they would have done something. I never said that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our friend again commented: \u201cDon\u2019t forget that I got this transcript from the parents themselves. If they had wanted to lie to me about their conversation with Alexander Paetzold, would they have given me this transcript, which contradicts their version of this conversation? Maybe you are capable of believing the parents would have done that, but I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOr there\u2019s another possibility,\u201d another friend said. \u201cMaybe the parents were in despair, because no one would believe that they were right and that their child was murdered. So they collected real sworn statements from people. But then they thought that this proof would not be enough, and they started to produce other so-called sworn statements. The right-wing police in Saxony, under pressure from certain politicians, were able to convince all the witnesses \u2013 or intimidate them \u2013 that they should withdraw their statements, whether or not those statements were true.\u201d<\/p>\n
