Dear Mr. Graf, dear friends,<\/p>\n

Last week Francesca read to us a portion of the transcript of another judicial interrogation in the matter of the investigation into the death of the child Joseph Abdulla. The witness was a young boy from Sebnitz, Daniel Steiner. The transcript has the Dresden district court file number 270 Gs 3141\/00 414 Js 53329\/00; the interrogation was carried out on 21 November 2000, at ten o\u2019clock in the morning.<\/p>\n

Francesca continued with the reading from the point where she had ended last week:<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs about how long that (i.e., the effects of what he had been given to drink) had lasted: \u201cYou noticed it a little later. Joseph was definitely carried to the edge of the pool. Joseph in the middle and the other two. I don\u2019t know which of the two was walking where, who was on the left and who was on the right. Ute stayed by the kiosk.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs as to whether the witness received pocket money: \u201cPocket money as such, no. But if I need some money, for example for the movies, I get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs as to whether DM 50.00 was a lot of money for the witness: \u201cFor me, no. When I have money, I have to spend it right away.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs: \u201cI received DM 50.00 from Mr. Abdulla. It was a bank note. He give it directly to me. I was alone there. My mother didn\u2019t see that. I bought a computer game with the money, \u2018V-Rallye,\u2019 auto racing.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs as to whether he had changed the contents of this statement after that: \u201cI said that first and after that Dr. Abdulla gave me the money.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs as to whether he knew the two policemen in Sebnitz: \u201cYes, I made a formal statement to (Officer) Kriedel. It was about the fact that some guys went on a rampage, and because we\u2019re a large group, the thing always comes back to us. The next day the guy came to me and asked me what I had said. That was after Abdulla\u2019s death. There were signs then all over the Sebnitz town square.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question by Inspector Krebs about whether they were looking for a person responsible for the crime then: \u201cNo, they were questioned and things like that, and they denied everything. The thing was that they knew right away who that was coming from.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a follow-up question from the judge about page 285 of the files about \u2018The tall dark (man named) Richter . . . \u2018: \u201cHe was face down on the bottom of the pool, and you could see Abdulla\u2019s back.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question about whether he himself had seen that they were jumping on Joseph: \u201cI saw that they were jumping on the same place where they\u2019d thrown Joseph into the water before. The fat swimming pool attendant was in the control room and looked on when they were working Joseph over, without doing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a question from the judge about where they had picked him up from: \u201cFrom the bottom of the pool.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a follow-up question about whether there was anything conspicuous about Joseph when they pulled him out: \u201cHe lay there, lifeless. He was pale and he\u2019d thrown up something, really vomited. It looked yellowish.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a follow-up question, \u2018Vomit from the mouth . . .\u2019: \u201cSomething whitish, yellowish. It was foamy, too, what came out of Joseph\u2019s mouth, after we\u2019d pulled him from the water.\u201d<\/p>\n

Francesca hat letzte Woche einen Teil eines Protokolls uns vorzulesen. Es war das Protokoll noch einer richterlichen Zeugenvernehmung in der Todesermittlugnssache des Kindes Joseph Abdulla, Gesch\u00e4ftszeichen des Amtsgerichts Dresden: 270 Gs 3141\/00 414 Js 53329\/00, am 21.11.2000 um 10.00 Uhr durchgef\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n

Sie fuhr mit dem Vorlesen fort, wo sie letzte Woche aufgeh\u00f6rte:<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, wie lange das gedauert hat (d.h., die Auswirkung von dem, was man Joseph gezwungen hat, zu trinken):<\/p>\n

Ein bisschen sp\u00e4ter hat man das gemerkt. Der Joseph wurde f\u00f6rmlich getragen an den Beckenrand. Der Joseph in der Mitte und die beiden. Ich wei\u00df nicht, wer wo gelaufen ist von den beiden, wer rechts und wer links. Die Ute blieb an dem Stand.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, ob der Zeuge Taschengeld bekommt:<\/p>\n

Taschengeld nicht f\u00f6rmlich aber wenn ich welches brauche, z. B. f\u00fcr das Kino, bekomme ich das.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, ob 50,00 DM viel Geld f\u00fcr den Zeugen ist:<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr mich nicht. Wenn ich Geld habe, muss ich es gleich ausgeben.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs:<\/p>\n

Von Herrn Abdulla habe ich 50,00 DM erhalten. Das war ein Schein. Das hat er direkt mir gegeben. Da war ich allein dort. Das hat meine Mutter nicht gesehen. Daf\u00fcr habe ich mir ein Computerspiel gekauft, f\u00fcr Autorennen, V-Rallye.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs,bob er danach sein Aussageverhalten ge\u00e4ndert hat: Ich habe das erst gesagt und danach hat der Dr. Abdulla mir das Geld gegeben.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, ob er die beiden Polizisten in Sebnitz kennt:<\/p>\n

Ja, ich habe bei Herrn Kriedel mal eine Aussage gemacht. Da ging es darum, dass welche randaliert haben und weil wir eben eine gro\u00dfe Gruppe sind, da kommt das immer auf uns. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag kam dann der Kunde zu mir and fragte mich, was ich gesagt h\u00e4tte. Das war nach dem Tod von dem Abdulla. Es wurden damals Schilder umgebogen auf dem Markt in Sebnitz.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage KHK Krebs, ob da ein T\u00e4ter ermittelt wurde:<\/p>\n

Nein, die wurden gefragt und so und die haben alles abgestritten. Es geht ja darum, dass die gleich wussten, von wem das kommt.<\/p>\n

Auf Vorhalt der Richterin Blatt 285 der Akte \u201eDer gro\u00dfe dunkle Richter . . .\u201c:<\/p>\n

Der Bauch war auf den Boden des Beckens gerichtet und man sah auf den R\u00fccken des Abdulla.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage, ob er selbst gesehen hat, dass sie auf den Joseph rumgehubst sind:<\/p>\n

Ich habe gesehen, dass sie auf die gleiche Stelle gesprungen sind, wo sie vorher den Joseph reingeworfen hatten. Die dick Aufpasserin hat sich im Kontrollraum aufgehalten, hat zugesehen, wie der Joseph bearbeitet wurde, ohne etwas zu unternehmen.<\/p>\n

Auf Frage der Richterin, von wo sie ihn geholt haben:<\/p>\n

Von dem Boden des Beckens.<\/p>\n

Auf Vorhalt, ob etwas Auff\u00e4lliges war an dem Joseph, als sie ihn rausgeholt hatten:<\/p>\n

Der lag nur leblos. Er war blass und er hat solches Zeug rausgespuckt, f\u00f6rmlich erbrochen. Das sah gelblich aus.<\/p>\n

Auf Vorhalt \u201eErbrochenes aus dem Mund . . .\u201c:<\/p>\n

Etwas wei\u00dflich, gelbliches. Es war auch schaumig, was aus dem Mund von Joseph kam, nachdem wir ihn aus dem Wasser geholt hatten.<\/p>\n
