They deny that it corresponds to what really happened and they say that what Rene May told Judge Weidig of the Dresden District Court and District Attorney Flockerzi under oath on 16 October 2000 (File numbers 270 Gs 3141/00 and 414 Js 53329/00), before his brother was beaten by neo-Nazis, is the truth.

“Personally, I believe the parents and I believe what’s in the transcript of 16 October 2000 that I just mentioned,” Francesca added. “A little intimidation can go a long way.”

Then she continued reading the second questioning of Rene May, carried out by the police.

Question: What did you do in the (upstairs) office?

Answer: We talked about the swimming pool and what happened on 13 June 1997. There was a man there who wrote down everything and asked me questions about what happened. I started to tell him what happened: I went to the pool at one o’clock in the afternoon with my brother, and then Diana and Joseph came. I went with my brother near the pool’s catwalk and the other two were farther away. I went over to the whirlpool with my little brother. Then we got out of the pool again. My little brother went over to Mike Mittag and then Joseph and his sister also went into the water. After half an hour they all came out of the pool. Then two girl friends of Diana came by. I don’t know their names. They wanted to lie down near Diana, but she said that she wanted to lie somewhere else. I lay about five meters away and heard that. Then Diana went into the water with both of her friends. Then Joseph came to Diana and asked if he could get something to eat. Diana gave him some money and he went to the kiosk to eat something. Then later he got some cola. The writer asked me if the three people that Herr Abdulla had named before, when were all sitting downstairs, had done something to Joseph’s cola drink.

“Mr. Abdullah,” Francesca remarked, “denies having named anyone.” She went on with the reading:

Question: Which people were named downstairs?

Answer: Mr. Abdullah named Ute Schneider, Sandro Richter, and Mike Hauke.

Question: Were all three of these people at the swimming pool on 13 June 1997, between one and four o’clock in the afternoon?

Answer: I saw only Mike Hauke.

“Well,” said Francesca, “I can only emphasize once again, that these answers are the opposite of those that this witness, Rene May, gave earlier, on 16 October 2000, before the Dresden district court and district attorney. I think someone should have investigated the reason for these differences, much more than the police officers in this questioning session did. Two statements, both under oath, and only one can be true. In my opinion, it was the first one that was true. The second was the result of intimidation.” She sighed. “But to prove that? Yes, I may not be able to do that, but as long as I live, no one in the world is going to forget the answers that boy gave during the first questioning in court.”

And what do I think? I’m only a foolish old man perhaps, and I think about what Yeats is supposed to have said once: “Man can embody the truth but he cannot know it.”

Sincerely yours,

Robert John Bennett

Mauerkircherstrasse 68

81925 Germany

Telephone: +49.89.981.0208

E-Mail: rjbennett@post.harvard.edu

E-Mail Saad and Renate Kantelberg-Abdulla: majoskantelberg@t-online.de

——————————————————————————————————-

Since many recipients of this letter may read German more easily than they read English, the following is the author’s own translation of the above letter. März 2002

Sehr geehrter Herr Graf, sehr geehrte Freunde,

Robert John Bennett

Mauerkircherstrasse 68

81925 Germany

Telephone: +49.89.981.0208

E-Mail: rjbennett@post.harvard.edu

E-Mail an Herrn und Frau Dr. Kantelberg-Abdulla: majoskantelberg@t-online.de

========================================================

Letter from Munich – the Joseph Affair – 62 EINE DEUTSCHE FASSUNG STEHT WEITER UNTEN. 15 March 2002 Dear Mr. Graf, dear friends, “As I’ve already said,” Francesca remarked at the end of the conversation last week, “it was the parents, Dr. Abdullah and his wife, Dr. Kantelberg-Abdullah, who gave me this transcript of the […]

["post-227","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
