Michael Mandelbaum is the Christian A. Herter Professor of American Foreign Policy and Director of the American Foreign Policy Program at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University in Washington. His fields of expertise are American economic policy; American foreign policy; globalization; nation-building and democracy; NATO; and strategic and security issues.<\/p>\n
He has served as a faculty member at Harvard University and the U.S. Naval Academy; director of the Project on East-West Relations and senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (1986-2004); deputy director of the Aspen Institute Congressional Project on American Relations With Europe and the Former Communist World; and member of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy board of advisers. He holds his Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University.<\/p>\n
