I know what you&#8217;ve all been wondering.&nbsp; What will the future<br \/>\nbring, how will it be tamed, without the guidance of young innovative<br \/>\nleaders?&nbsp; Luckily, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Klaus_Schwab\">philanthropist Klaus Schwab<\/a> foresaw this problem,<br \/>\nand envisioned a thousand points of light to address it.&nbsp; One<br \/>\nthousand one hundred and eleven avatars, that is, in the form of&nbsp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Young Global Leaders<\/span><br \/>\ndevoted to five-year terms of participating in initiatives and<br \/>\nactivities, supporting and respecting others, interacting and<br \/>\ncollaborating to initiate projects, striving for consensus but<br \/>\naccepting diversity of opinion.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Each of these avatars gains various attributes upon successful completion of this task: <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>+ Leadership (through interaction with mentors and peers)<\/li>\n<li>+ Insight (The best insights into key global challenges and<br \/>\nunderlying forces&#8230;&nbsp; &#8220;[you are now] equipped to understand the<br \/>\nworld much better&#8221;).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>+ Understanding (great understanding of different cultures, people, and stakeholders of global society)<\/li>\n<li>+ Social Status (Belonging to the most powerful and exciting global network, continuing on as an alumnus)<\/li>\n<li>+ Influence (through meeting those who shape the political, social and intellectual global agenda)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>+ Personal brand (part of a life-enhancing brand)\n  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is an ongoing quest.&nbsp; ~225 avatars are chosen every<br \/>\nyear for a five-year commitment.&nbsp; Any global player from the<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">High-tech<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Corporate management<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Government<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Media<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Arts<\/span> or <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Academia<\/span><br \/>\nclasses is eligible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2.
