{"id":508,"date":"2010-07-22T11:01:57","date_gmt":"2010-07-22T15:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/lianaleahy\/?p=508"},"modified":"2010-07-22T11:21:35","modified_gmt":"2010-07-22T15:21:35","slug":"railscamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/lianaleahy\/2010\/07\/22\/railscamp\/","title":{"rendered":"RailsCamp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/railscamps.com\/\">RailsCamp<\/a> New England is being planned for this September in Stowe, VT and I find myself really torn. \u00a0I really really want to go. \u00a0But I don&#8217;t know if I can leave my one and two year old for a whole weekend yet.<\/p>\n<p>It might sound a little weird being the only girl in a cabin full of 30 guys. \u00a0Actually, the event is at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ski-adventure.com\/\">SkiAdventure Lodge<\/a>, so it might not be too strange. \u00a0But it also sounds really thrilling to spend a whole weekend immersed \u00a0in ruby geekdom. \u00a0I can only image all the amazing tech goodness I would soak up.<\/p>\n<p>Even if there were a way to coax my husband into bringing our kids, it kind of defeats the purpose of a weekend getaway. \u00a0Besides, as progressive as these Boston rubyists are, I don&#8217;t know that they&#8217;ll appreciate my newly mobile children running around. \u00a0Chances are they may be escaping their own kids for the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s just it. \u00a0How many of these guys can just leave their babes at home with their wives, while I worry about childcare? \u00a0Sure I have an amazing, understanding, fabulous husband&#8230; but even he would find a whole weekend alone with two toddlers quite daunting.<\/p>\n<p>*Sigh* \u00a0Maybe next time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RailsCamp New England is being planned for this September in Stowe, VT and I find myself really torn. \u00a0I really really want to go. \u00a0But I don&#8217;t know if I can leave my one and two year old for a whole weekend yet.
