The only thing I&#8217;ve done is read\u2014everything I came across relating to diatom evolution. But it hasn&#8217;t been particularly rewarding. There is much discussion of phylogenetic relationships and some of the characters relevant to that, but almost nothing about any possible functional or ecological correlates. What a nightmare. In any case, I haven&#8217;t felt the energy or focus of mind to put much effort behind it.
