I’m back!

I hope you’ve had a great summer. We were busy traveling, stock piling, and weather unemployment. Jason was terminated in early August. He is busy interviewing and should land a new job soon.

My first year at Harvard

It is hard to believe next Tuesday marks the completion of my first year at Harvard. What Harvard teaches: as much as you think you know, you really do not know anything. Classes are ultra competitive, the staff is highly regarded and educated, and the courses are very difficult. Harvard’s academic reading and writing is one of the most difficult college courses I’ve ever encountered.

It is time for post-final parties, resolution of pre-summer club responsibilities, and enjoyment of the summer time. I will happily use my stats skill to place bets at the horse track in Revere. We learned the hard way after one hour of travel on bus to Revere; the dog track does grant entrance to minors. This was not a good with our son in tow. Revere reminded me of southern Wisconsin (where the Dairyland Dog Track is located).

The PLS will say goodbye to Greg and Jin-ah as they graduate. Congrats to the both of you! Delvin is stepping down from the board to study for the LSAT and complete his education in 2009. Greg is studying philosophy abroad. I would like to wish the both of them the best of luck and thank them for their service. I will step up to the Vice-President position. Jason will assume the Treasurer’s position. It appears Makazi Mtingwa, current HESA Presidential candidate, will step into the President position. I am not sure what will become of the new board and the PLS. If you are interested in becoming a member or a board member, please visit the HEPLS website.

July will mark the one year anniversary since our relocation to Massachusetts. It sounds as if we departed from Chicago at the right time. We missed the 2nd largest snow fall in history, the earthquake, and the $4 gas prices. We rid of one car and take public transportation everywhere. While we miss Super Target, malls in almost every town, fast food places static among the scenery, the Cubs, and the Chicago accent, a lot of positive changes occurred. Besides Harvard, we became vegetarians, enjoyed a very small tax bill from our relocation, and will explore the north east corridor of the country before we relocate.

During the summer break, we will visit New York, Cape Cod, and Florida. Our travel schedule for May is quite busy as well. Please note our Harvard email address will be inactive during the summer. FAS will reactive it at the end of September (when the fall semester commences).

Have a great summer fellow Harvardians and others. As the members of the highly exclusive Porcellian club say “Dum vivimus vivamus” (while we live, let’s live).

We’ve moved!

We’ve stopped blogging on Yahoo. I was very frustrated with the unfriendly interface provided by Geocities. I will not transfer the pages over to this site. The work is just too demanding so close to finals.

We’ll blog over the summer as we have no courses.
