{"id":372,"date":"2004-09-10T00:50:41","date_gmt":"2004-09-10T04:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/2004\/09\/10\/army-orders-dna-tests-after-evidence"},"modified":"2004-09-10T00:50:41","modified_gmt":"2004-09-10T04:50:41","slug":"army-orders-dna-tests-after-evidence-of-rape-of-manipur-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/2004\/09\/10\/army-orders-dna-tests-after-evidence-of-rape-of-manipur-woman\/","title":{"rendered":"Army Orders DNA Tests after Evidence of Rape of Manipur Woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a289'><\/a><\/p>\n<p><P><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">In response to the massive <A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/2004\/08\/17#a282\">protests<\/A><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> across Manipur state at the brutal beating and death of a young <A href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/south_asia\/3604986.stm\">woman<\/A><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> in custody of the Indian Army, the government instituted an <A href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/south_asia\/3599254.stm\">inquiry<\/A><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">.&nbsp; Last week, the judge heading the inquiry threatened four soldiers with arrest if they did not appear before him.&nbsp; They had refused to cooperate, challenging his jurisdiction over them.
