{"id":173,"date":"2004-01-06T11:18:00","date_gmt":"2004-01-06T15:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/2004\/01\/06\/threats-issued-to-kashmir-peace-pane"},"modified":"2004-01-06T11:18:00","modified_gmt":"2004-01-06T15:18:00","slug":"threats-issued-to-kashmir-peace-panel-organizers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/2004\/01\/06\/threats-issued-to-kashmir-peace-panel-organizers\/","title":{"rendered":"Threats Issued to Kashmir Peace Panel Organizers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a50'><\/a><\/p>\n<p><P><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">The Confederation of Human Rights Organisations has issued a <A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/jaskaran\/CHRONews\">press release<\/A> detailing threats it has received because of its role in organizing a <A href=\"http:\/\/bridget.jatol.com\/pipermail\/sacw_insaf.net\/2003\/001875.html\">panel on peace in Kashmir<\/A><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> for the upcoming <A href=\"http:\/\/www.wsfindia.org\/\">World Social Forum<\/A> (Bombay).&nbsp; The panel, titled &#x201C;Moving Towards Peace in Kashmir,&#x201D; will feature speakers such as Ved Bhasin, Human Rights Activist and Chairman of &#8220;Kashmir Times;&#x201D; Parvez Imroz, Human Rights Activist, Srinagar, J &amp; K; and Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, Anti-Nuclear Activist and Professor of Physics from Pakistan.&nbsp; The CHRO quoted threats from hinduunity.org&nbsp;(now deleted, with some portions of the <A href=\"http:\/\/pub6.ezboard.com\/fhinduunityhinduismhottopics.showMessage?topicID=17358.topic\">message remaining<\/A>):<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">&#8220;A bunch of anti-India activists and some Pakistanis will present a &#8220;balanced&#8221; viewpoint on Kashmir &#8211; not in Pakistan, but in Bombay. Not one person in this list, promotes an Indian perspective, while some in the list are apologists for Pakistani terrorism &#8211; yet it will be &#8220;balanced&#8221;.&#8221;&nbsp; It also demanded: &#8220;This conference must be cancelled immediately or Thousands of Shiv sena activists, RSS, VHP members should storm the venue and burn it.&nbsp; Kick the assess of Organisers&#8230;. This is very serious issue.
