Former SDP Sawaran Dass was sentenced to life in prison for the abduction and murder of the brother of an alleged militant. The court adjourned the matter until December 16.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">After the November 18 judgment <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.ensaaf.org\/pr2005-11-18.html\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">convicting<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> 2 police officers of the murder of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, and four others for abduction with intent to murder, among other crimes, the police chief of Punjab came out in full <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.tribuneindia.com\/2005\/20051123\/punjab1.htm\"><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">support<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> of the convicted cops:<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><EM>Mr Virk said the police officers indicted by the court had sacrificed their lives to bring peace in the troubled state. Every effort would be made to help them and their families if they go for appeal in higher court.
