A special court in Gujarat has rejected the anticipatory bail application of three policemen in Gujarat, for their role in improperly investigating the murder of 14 Muslims, killed during the Gujarat pogroms against Muslims in early 2002:
Fast-track court Judge H P Patel rejected the application on the grounds that applicants are “senior police officials” at present and have also served in Dahod during the time of the incident.
If granted anticipatory bail, they could tamper with evidence due to their present position.
