Jang, who was the uncle of supreme leader Kim Jong Un, was one of the most powerful men in the country. Since his death, the state has effectively tried to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2520616\/North-Koreas-leader-Kim-Jong-Un-releases-video-showing-uncle-dragged-parliament.html\">erase him<\/a> from the country\u2019s official history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>United Kingdom<\/strong><br \/>\nAmnesty International <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/wireStory\/amnesty-files-suit-suspected-surveillance-21148535\">filed a legal claim<\/a> against the UK government based on concerns that \u201cthe organization\u2019s communications have been unlawfully accessed by the UK intelligence services.\u201d Amnesty\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/news\/amnesty-international-brings-claim-against-uk-over-state-surveillance-2013-12-09\">concerns<\/a> first arose following the release of documents by Edward Snowden in June 2013 that revealed how UK authorities had access to information obtained by the US NSA\u2019s previously secret PRISM program\u2014the concerns were amplified when it was revealed the UK\u2019s GCHQ had its own program, Tempora, that may have subjected people to blanket surveillance.\u00a0 Amnesty\u2019s claim is one in a series of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techdirt.com\/articles\/20131211\/07363425530\/legal-challenges-to-spying-mount-uk.shtml\">recent legal challenges<\/a> to spying that have emerged in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>United States<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.propublica.org\/documents\/item\/889134-gameshttp:\/\/www.propublica.org\/documents\/item\/889134-games\">Documents<\/a>\u00a0released by Edward Snowden revealed that American and British intelligence agencies have infiltrated globally popular online games, such as World of Warcraft and Second Life, in order to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/world-of-spycraft-intelligence-agencies-spied-in-online-games\">conduct surveillance<\/a>\u00a0and gather data on game users. The documents suggest that the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/techland.time.com\/2013\/12\/09\/spy-games-the-nsa-and-cia-allegedly-tried-to-recruit-world-of-warcraft-and-second-life-players\/\">spy agencies were concerned<\/a>\u00a0that terrorists might use the online games to communicate, exchange funds, and\/or plot attacks.<\/p>\n<p><em>#imweekly is a regular round-up of news about Internet content controls and activity around the world.
