Lisandra and Elisa were 2017 Chayes International Public Service Fellows.<\/p>\n<p>As Harvard Law Today reports,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">The award, named in honor of the late Clinical Professor of Law David Grossman \u201988, a public interest lawyer dedicated to providing high-quality legal services to low-income communities, recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in representing individual clients and undertaking advocacy or policy reform projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">The trio were honored for their exceptional work with the\u00a0International Human Rights Clinic\u00a0on a complicated lawsuit,\u00a0<em>Mamani, et al. v. S\u00e1nchez de Lozada and S\u00e1nchez Berza\u00edn.<\/em> The Mamani case was litigated in U.S. federal court on behalf of the family members of Bolivian citizens who were killed by the Bolivian military in 2003. The suit brought claims against Bolivia\u2019s former president and minister of defense for their roles in orchestrating these killings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Over the course of two years, the students were involved in many aspects of the case \u2014 from discovery and depositions, to summary judgment, to a month-long trial, to the current appeal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.law.harvard.edu\/three-students-win-the-david-grossman-exemplary-clinical-student-team-award\/\">Continue reading the story here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Lisandra, Elisa and Lindsay!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lisandra Novo &#8217;19, Elisa Quiroz &#8217;19, and Lindsay Bailey &#8217;19 have won the 2019 David Grossman Exemplary Clinical Student Team Award.
