{"id":201,"date":"2008-07-15T07:36:16","date_gmt":"2008-07-15T11:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/idblog\/2008\/07\/15\/indispensable-coporate-responsibility\/"},"modified":"2008-07-15T07:36:51","modified_gmt":"2008-07-15T11:36:51","slug":"indispensable-coporate-responsibility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/idblog\/2008\/07\/15\/indispensable-coporate-responsibility\/","title":{"rendered":"(Indispensable) Corporate Responsibility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/idblog\/?p=156\">wrote<\/a> about corporate responsibility and how certain corporations are playing a part in helping other countries stifle certain rights, today I &#8216;d like to shift my focus to the positive collaboration between big corporations, NGOs in amazing ongoing projects that make a significant, positive difference.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples: Google is developing algorithms that will help <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/technology\/7347476.stm\">detect child pornography<\/a> and is helping <a href=\"http:\/\/www.missingkids.com\/\">NCMEC<\/a> find missing children using its pattern recognition and other<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/04\/28\/technology\/28google.html?_r=1&amp;oref=slogin\"> interesting algorithms<\/a>. Microsoft in collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.unesco.org\/en\/ev.php-URL_ID=29008&amp;URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&amp;URL_SECTION=201.html\">UNESCO<\/a> has organized an <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.unesco.org\/ci\/en\/ev.php-URL_ID=27043&amp;URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&amp;URL_SECTION=201.html\">educator leaders forum<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.accessmylibrary.com\/coms2\/summary_0286-34109352_ITM\">Speak2me Inc<\/a> combines education and contextual ads to provide free English lessons in China. UNESCO and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.repetto.com\/home.php\">Repetto Foundation <\/a>have launched the <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.unesco.org\/en\/ev.php-URL_ID=39647&amp;URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&amp;URL_SECTION=201.html\">Dance for Life<\/a> partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alicia_Alonso\">Alicia Alonso<\/a>, to support educational projects which use dance to help marginalized children. <\/p>\n<p>These are but a few examples of the collaborations ongoing. Numerous corporations have taken strong initiatives in making a difference in our global village.
