Thanateros.\u00a0 It includes spells and magical exercises ranging from mind control to transmogrification. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0037.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5308\" style=\"margin-left: 5px\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0037-195x300.jpg\" alt=\"Liber null\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0037-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0037.jpg 443w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a>A warning at the beginning of the book states \u201c<em>Liber Null<\/em> contains a selection of extremely powerful rituals and exercises intended for committed oculists who are aware of the extent of their own state of being.\u201d\u00a0 Not for the magical novice, this book discusses intense rituals that are akin to sensory deprivation that should not be tried if the reader has any health issues.\u00a0 Much if the IOT magic discussed in <em>Liber Null <\/em>is from the darker side of magic and is devoted to the black arts.<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5307\" style=\"margin-left: 5px\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0008-195x300.jpg\" alt=\"Liber Null\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0008-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0008.jpg 443w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Illuminates of Thanateros, or IOT, was founded in 1978 by Pete Carroll and Ray Sherwin as a hierarchical organization based on the Greek gods of sex and death and the idea of chaos magic.\u00a0 Related to the Zos Kia Cultus and Thelmic Magick, Carroll combines both traditional magic with new forms of thought and focus.\u00a0\u00a0 Although he debunks astrology, he grounds his new system in similar terms.\u00a0 Carroll, who studied science in college, attempts to demystify magic much like Aleister Crowley.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0079.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5309\" style=\"margin-right: 5px\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0079-195x300.jpg\" alt=\"Liber null\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" align=\"left\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0079-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2014\/12\/LiberNull_0079.jpg 443w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a>However, chaos magic lives up to its name, creating a realm where everything can contradict itself.\u00a0 As Carroll says in <em>Liber Kaos, \u201c<\/em>Chaoist magic is characterized by it&#8217;s cavalier attitude to metaphysics\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Liber null\"
