Finck who owned a shop in Geneva, Switzerland this catalog gives us a glimpse into the buying habits of people in\u00a0this time period. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finck, a German apothocary took over the original shop from a French pharmacist and in a few short years took it from a modest corner store to one of the largest pharmacy&#8217;s in Switzerland. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5666\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0007-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"KIC_Image_0007\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0007-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0007-733x1024.jpg 733w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0007.jpg 852w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5664 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0003-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"KIC_Image_0003\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0003-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0003-770x1024.jpg 770w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/houghtonmodern\/files\/2015\/02\/KIC_Image_0003.jpg 914w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to having the traditional items such as\u00a0medical supplies and patent medicines Finck also carried perfume, sponges, and even had an American soda-water fountain. \u00a0Apparently the shop was quite modern for the time with lights set in walnut wood and windows that were glass cased so that you could see the whole interior of the shop from the outside. \u00a0A counter ran around the shop on three sides with various dispensers, along with a beautiful glass show case for various types of bottles for purchase. \u00a0Finck was really marketing to both the medical professional and the casual consumer which is probably what made him so successful.
