To facilitate skill development, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/hnmcp\/our-team\/\">Professor Robert Bordone<\/a> relied on the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/hnmcp\/\">Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/harvard-negotiation-and-mediation-clinical-program\/\">Case Studies<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_550\" style=\"width: 394px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/hlscasestudies\/2013\/08\/13\/hnmcp-case-studies-website-shapes-harvard-negotiation-institute-negotiation-workshop\/bob-teaching-image-for-postcard\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-550\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-550\" class=\"wp-image-550 \" title=\"Bob teaching - Image for postcard\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/hlscasestudies\/files\/2013\/08\/Bob-teaching-Image-for-postcard-1024x680.jpg?resize=384%2C255\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Bob Bordone<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Participants\u2014from government officials to judges to real estate agents\u2014learned about managing competitive bargainers and other difficult behaviors by negotiating <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/kesnia\/\"><em>Kesnia<\/em>.<\/a> In <em>Kesnia<\/em>, a country\u2019s newly-elected government negotiates with an international NGO to determine restitution payments for a resident impacted by the country\u2019s recent war.<\/p>\n<p>When teaching about value creation, Professor Bordone used <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/diego-primadonna\/\"><em>Diego Primadonna<\/em><\/a>, a case involving an aging football star negotiating a new contract with his former team for a new contract. The case is available in English or <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/diego-primadonna-spanish-language-version\/\">Spanish<\/a>. It offers students an opportunity to develop innovative options that add value for both sides in a negotiation.<\/p>\n<p>Students also previewed a new teaching tool at the Negotiation Workshop. <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/critical-decisions-in-negotiation-dvd-set-beta-version\/\">Available in beta<\/a> on the Case Studies website, instructors now have video access to Professor Robert Bordone\u2019s expert negotiation advice. Critical Decisions in Negotiation features four pairs of attorneys negotiating <a href=\"http:\/\/casestudies.law.harvard.edu\/iqbals-big-venture\/\"><em>Iqbal\u2019s Big Venture<\/em><\/a>, a case about the extent of an international technology license. Viewers observe segments of each pair negotiating, then hear as Professor Bordone meets with each pair to discuss their strategies. Throughout the video, Professor Bordone offers tips and coaching about how to negotiate more effectively. The video, which allows instructors to browse through short chapters organized by topic, will help instructors share insights with their students on skills such as negotiating process, sequencing moves, and dealing with difficult behaviors.
