{"id":851,"date":"2012-03-21T15:01:28","date_gmt":"2012-03-21T20:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/hfacollections\/?p=851"},"modified":"2012-03-21T15:01:28","modified_gmt":"2012-03-21T20:01:28","slug":"the-teco-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/hfacollections\/2012\/03\/21\/the-teco-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"The TECO Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston donated their collection of 16mm film prints to the Harvard Film Archive in 2007.\u00a0\u00a0 They are now find-able on Harvard Library&#8217;s online catalog, <a href=\"http:\/\/hollis.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">HOLLIS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To see the titles, go to Advance Search, put TECO Collection in the Keyword box, and limit the location to Harvard Film Archive.\u00a0\u00a0 Titles are cataloged with their original language characters, their transliterated titles, as well as their English language release titles.<\/p>\n<p>Culled from the years 1979-1994, 115 titles from Taiwan and Hong Kong are represented here.\u00a0 These prints were once used by the Cultural Office as a resource for loaning and screenings in and around the city of Boston.\u00a0\u00a0 The genres they cover run the gamut from Kung Fu action films to sweet romances to serious dramas. The films are in Mandarin and subtitled in English and Cantonese.<\/p>\n<p>Titles include<br \/>\n<em>That Day at the Beach<\/em> (1983), <em>Taipei Story<\/em> (1985), <em>The Black Skin and White Tooth<\/em> (1985), <em>Terrorizer<\/em> (1986) (all directed by Edward Yang)<br \/>\nAng Lee\u2019s first film, <em>Pushing Hands<\/em> (1992)<br \/>\n<em>Five Girls and a Rope<\/em> (Hung-Wei Yeh, 1992)<br \/>\n<em>Song of the Exile<\/em> (starring Maggie Cheung, directed by Ann Hui, 1990)<\/p>\n<p>Kung fu films such as<br \/>\n<em>Dragon Inn<\/em> (starring Maggie Cheung and Donnie Yen, directed by Hsiao Ton Cheng and Raymond Lee, 1992)<br \/>\n<em>The Kung Fu Kids<\/em> (Wu Wanlali, 1982)<br \/>\n<em>Raiders of the Shaolin Temple<\/em> (Fang Hoa, 1982)<\/p>\n<p>And some great titles like<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hollis.harvard.edu\/?itemid=|library\/m\/aleph|012885139\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Marvelously Fast Juvenile Delinquents<\/em><\/a> (Liang Chun Chao, 1988, starring Andy Lau)<br \/>\n<em>Return of the Electric Love<\/em> (Dunping Yang, 1982)<br \/>\n<em>Even the Sun is Sobbing<\/em> (Chin-Tang Lai, 1983)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston donated their collection of 16mm film prints to the Harvard Film Archive in 2007.\u00a0\u00a0 They are now find-able on Harvard Library&#8217;s online catalog, HOLLIS.
