Ms. Plassnik began her career in the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where she held various positions. In 1997, Ms. Plassnik was chosen as the Cabinet Chief for Vice Chancellor Wolfgang Sch\u00fcssel. When Mr. Sch\u00fcssel became the Austrian Chancellor in 2000, Ms. Plassnik remained Cabinet Chief in his government until 2004, when she was appointed Foreign Minister.
