The Universities (in Germany) Are Falling Apart!\u201d \u2013 10<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the universities in Baden-Wuerttemberg fire safety measure are not being complied with, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Economy. In the universities of Lower Saxony there are problems affecting the entire infrastructure, i.e., facades, roofs, windows, automated ventilation, and fire prevention, \u201cto mention only the most important areas,\u201d says Werner Nording of the Ministry of Science and Education. It is now only thirty-seven places behind China\u2019s Tsinghua University (ranked 50 in the world), only thirty places behind the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (ranked 57 in the world), only forty-two places behind Peking University (ranked 45 in the world), only sixty-one places behind the National University of Singapore (ranked 26 in the world), only twenty-seven places behind Korea\u2019s Pohang University of Science and Technology (ranked 60 in the world), and, for another comparison, only eighty-two places behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (ranked 5 in the world).
