These range from the sometimes mediocre university research that is created by a lack of meaningful intellectual and scientific exchange internationally, to the corrupt practices involving the sale academic titles. Moreover, paradoxically, the present departmental structure has not resulted in professors taking greater care of their doctoral candidates. It is now only seventeen places behind China\u2019s Tsinghua University (ranked 71 in the world), only twenty-six places behind the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (ranked 62 in the world), only thirty-nine places behind Peking University (ranked 49 in the world), only forty-eight places behind the National University of Singapore (ranked 40 in the world), only thirty-five places behind Korea\u2019s Pohang University of Science and Technology (ranked 53 in the world), and, for another comparison, only eighty-one places behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (ranked 7 in the world). Im Zeitalter der Massenuniversit\u00e4t werden seine Schw\u00e4chen offensichtlich. Sie reichen von der zuweilen mittelm\u00e4\u00dfigen, weil wenig internationalisierten Forschung bis hin zum schmutzigen Gesch\u00e4ft mit Titeln. Denn paradoxerweise f\u00fchrt die Lehrstuhlstruktur nicht dazu, dass der Professor sich intensiv um seinen Doktoranden k\u00fcmmert.
