Aha, you think, German professors and academics are so important and enjoy such respect around the world that they receive offers that correspond to the high level of their achievements. At the same time, though, these advertisements leave a bitter aftertaste. Cheap vacations for the elite? It is now only seventeen places behind China\u2019s Tsinghua University (ranked 71 in the world), only twenty-six places behind the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (ranked 62 in the world), only thirty-nine places behind Peking University (ranked 49 in the world), only forty-eight places behind the National University of Singapore (ranked 40 in the world), only thirty-five places behind Korea\u2019s Pohang University of Science and Technology (ranked 53 in the world), and, for another comparison, only eighty-one places behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (ranked 7 in the world). Sie werben mit &#8220;VIP-Urlaub f\u00fcr Professoren und Doktoren&#8221;. Der Luxusaufenthalt im 5,5-Sterne Hotel in Dubai kostet f\u00fcr Akademiker (mit Titel!) dann nur noch 699 statt 1599 Euro. Aha, denkt man sich. Doktoren und Professoren genie\u00dfen noch gro\u00dfen Respekt, wenn auch die Gruppe der sehr wichtigen Menschen auf dieser Welt immer gr\u00f6\u00dfer zu werden scheint. Zugleich hinterlassen die Reiseprospekte einen faden Nachgeschmack. Billigurlaub f\u00fcr die Elite?
