The Technical University of Munich* \u2013 Getting a Ph.D. in Germany \u2013 and Being at the Professor\u2019s Mercy \u2013 13<\/p>\n
If the dissertation, in the end, receives a high enough grade, the doctoral candidates must explain and defend their research in an oral examination. After that, a final evaluation will be made on the basis of the dissertation and the oral exam. However, in none of the regulations governing the awarding of doctorates is the relationship between \u2013 and the relative values of \u2013 the two types of work, written and oral, specified.
