Reactions were not slow in coming: \u201cWe have a different tradition in Germany,\u201d said Uwe Brandenburg of the Centrum f\u00fcr Hochschulentwicklung (Center for University Development or CHE, a partner organization of Zeit Online). Brandenburg said he thought this tradition was a good thing, and that \u201cEducation and culture cannot simply be treated as something to be bought and sold. That\u2019s not the way we think of these things.
