In Germany, an engineer with a doctor\u2019s degree can, over a lifetime, earn at least a quarter of a million euros (365,000 US dollars) more than a colleague with only a master\u2019s degree. In addition to all this, there are now suspicions of a \u201cporous border\u201d between the point where the fake doctorates are bought and sold and the area where institutional clerical staff has control. (http:\/\/www.arwu.org\/ARWUFIELD2009ENG.jsp) According to The Times of London, in its Higher Education Supplement [THES], World University Rankings, 2009, the Technical University of Munich is ranked 55 overall among the world\u2019s universities.
