In one court trial a manager of a PhD merchandising business incriminated himself and confessed everything, apparently quite eagerly. In doing so, he proved to be a gold mine of information for the authorities. One result was an article in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung in August, \u201cHundert deutsche Professoren sollen bestechlich sein\u201c (One Hundred Professors in Germany Are Said to Take Bribes).
