The Deutscher Hochschulverband stated that they have always contacted the relevant district attorney whenever dubious advertisements for doctoral candidate advisers appeared anywhere in the country. They indicated, however, that investigations were actually carried out only in isolated cases. The president of the Deutscher Hochschulverband emphasized that now for the first time in Germany possible illegal dealings in the arrangements for doctoral candidate advisers were being widely investigated.
