\nBaden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria are also heavily investing their university \u201clandscape.\u201d Bavaria plans to set aside just under a billion euros \u2013 the so-called \u201cresearch billion\u201d \u2013 in order to expand its universities and to make space available for an additional 38,000 students by 2012. Baden-Wurttemberg is aiming for an increase of 16,000 students, especially in areas that will increase graduates\u2019 chances in the job market. While Bavaria will expand its campuses mainly through new construction, Baden-Wurttemberg plans to rent the additional space it requires. At the Fachhochschule Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria, for example, over 80,000 square feet of building space will be added.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAuch Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg und Bayern investieren stark in ihre Hochschullandschaft. So stellte der Freistaat Bayern knapp eine Milliarde Euro, die sogenannte “Forschungsmilliarde”, bereit, um die Hochschulen zu erweitern und bis 2012 38.000 zus\u00e4tzliche Studienpl\u00e4tze zu schaffen. Im Nachbarbundesland Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg sind 16.000 weitere Studienpl\u00e4tze angepeilt, in erster Linie in solchen Studienf\u00e4chern, in denen f\u00fcr die Absolventen gute Chancen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt bestehen. W\u00e4hrend Bayern seine Campi auch baulich vergr\u00f6\u00dfert, versucht Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg in erster Linie \u00fcber Anmietungen mehr Raum zu schaffen. An der FH Deggendorf in Niederbayern werden zum Beispiel 7500 Quadratmeter geschaffen, indem man anbaut.<\/strong><\/p>\n
