If prosperity is threatened by economic problems, then people sometimes look to the old, unhealthy ideas as a mental safe haven. Among the people of western Germany who were questioned in Decker\u2019s study, 15.4 percent believe that \u201cthe Jews \u2013 more than other people \u2013 use underhanded tricks in order to get what they want.\u201d That figure is 2.2 percent higher than in eastern Germany. However, it is striking that in the prosperous south German states of Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg, anti-Semitism is especially widespread. Auffallend: Besonders verbreitet ist der Antisemitismus in den wohlhabenden s\u00fcdlichen L\u00e4ndern Bayern und Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg.
