At the end of June, in response to the situation in Halberstadt, a number of prominent German authors and directors visited the town: Klaus Staeck, Wibke Bruhns, and Rolf Hochhuth. A well-known documentary film-maker, Andres Veiel, spoke of a \u201cresponsibility vacuum\u201d among the local population, where right-wing violence was concerned.
