Born in 1913 in Zemmin, near Greifswald in Germany, he started working as business director of Karpathen-Oel AG in Boryslaw, Poland, in 1941. The town became the scene of Beitz\u2019 clandestine rescue of hundreds of Jews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeitz now has an office at the Villa Huegel, formerly the family estate of Alfred Krupp, now the home of the Alfred Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation. He works surrounded by books, paintings, photographs, and awards, including a document from Israel\u2019s Yad Vashem granting him the title of \u2018Righteous among the Nations\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(To be continued)<\/p>\n<p>Source:.
