However, what can be said is that the German Social Democrats are being somewhat hypocritical in attacking the policies of the conservative political parties. A little more self-criticism would be appropriate, because even in those German states where the Social Democrats are in power, equality of opportunity is not much in evidence. In cities like Mainz, Bremen, and Rostock there are very few university students who grew up in workers\u2019 families. In order to change that, there will have to be more generous government assistance, but not to the rich. Deshalb ist die SPD scheinheilig, wenn sie nur die Politik der Union angreift. Etwas mehr Selbstkritik st\u00fcnde den Sozialdemokraten gut zu Gesicht. Denn in den SPD-L\u00e4ndern, die keine Studiengeb\u00fchren einf\u00fchren, steht es um die Chancengleichheit ebenfalls nicht gut. Auch in Mainz, Bremen und Rostock sitzen kaum Arbeiterkinder im H\u00f6rsaal. Um das zu \u00e4ndern, wird mehr Gro\u00dfz\u00fcgigkeit beim Baf\u00f6g helfen, aber nicht reichen.
