Those same individuals, however, see no problem with asking students to pay fees for a university system that until recently was completely supported with taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor children from workers\u2019 families, those fees are an additional obstacle to obtaining a university education. At the same time, German industry is complaining about the lack of skilled employees, but instead of complaining, they might consider offering more scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn engineering, for example, an area where the lack of skilled professionals is particularly serious for German companies, the offspring of workers\u2019 families have always been strongly represented at the university level. F\u00fcr Kinder aus Arbeiter- und Handwerkerfamilien sind die Geb\u00fchren aber eine zus\u00e4tzliche H\u00fcrde. Und die Wirtschaft klagt bereits \u00fcber den Mangel an Fachkr\u00e4ften. Statt zu jammern, sollte sie lieber mehr Stipendien anbieten.
