\u201cMore than fifty applicants responded to the fake want-ad that the authors placed in a newspaper. Forty-four of those applicants were professors who, as German civil servants, earn an average yearly salary of 71,500 euros ($97,570) and, when they retire, will receive a pension that is seventy percent of their net salary in their last year of employment. Even the president of a German technical college was among the applicants. All of them were prepared to violate the German civil service law that allows university instructors to work only one day a week at an outside job.
